Stefke Van Namen BE | namur

pop, rock, electro

End of 80's was New Beat a real new musical born here in Belgium and for rest of Europe, I at this time feel a real passion for these (at their debut) underground parties with few lights, huge soundsystems (SARTEC woofers were on top those days) and always taking place in parking or old empty factories... I met in the summer of 1992 David Dantinne (R.I.P mate) who has begun to animate some parties in the Namur suburbs and he show me the way. One year later, with the help of Dimitri Brandt, Dominique Henrion (all 2 were with in the same College in Erpent) and Axel Vanweenendaele (was at the time in Floreffe) we build "Carpe Noctem" and for 2 years we made our first steps in djing.... due to life events, we split up. I was the only one who continue, and after a short break, I was contacted in 1996 by Thomas Pierson from at the time best "mobile" in our region, the legendary "Zéro de Conduite", we were a group of 5 (Javier Gonzalez, Nicolas & Thomas Pierson, Nicolas Hughes Dessambre) and I can say that it's to their contacts that I really progress, aswell technically than humanly. Since 2001 more and more friends from northern part of Belgium (for the ones who don't know, there are here 3 communities, who respectively speaks dutch, french and german) called me "Stefke van Namen" (come from dutch language and the translation is: Stefke from Namur), and after short reflexion I say why not ? There is already a "Jack de Marseille" and "Dimitri from Paris", I can also say where I'm from. ;-) So it's now my second name.
